Drake found Cass leaning against the railing at the front of the boat. There were soft lights behind her, outlining her body perfectly against the dark ocean. She was staring at the stars in front of them when she felt his approach.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to fall overboard.” Cass said sarcastically, knowing it was him. “I haven’t had that much to drink.”

“If I’d thought you had too much, would I have brought another bottle?” Drake asked softly. He moved to stand beside her as the yacht moved gently under their feet. “It’s beautiful out here.”

“Yeah, it is.” Cass lowered her voice to match his. “Chris loves the ocean, I’m sure he’d live out here if Michelle agreed.”

“I can see the appeal. But I get bored without other things to do.”

“Well, I’m sure they find plenty to do out here.” Cass laughed and took another drink from the bottle she was holding.

“Straight from the bottle? You really are upset, huh?” Drake watched her wearily.

“If you came out here to judge me, I’d rather you didn’t.” Cass reluctantly turned away from the beautiful stars and began to walk away.

“I didn’t come out here to judge, I’m sorry if it came out that way.” Drake followed Cass closely. He really didn’t want her to fall overboard.

Cass just kept walking, ignoring him.

“Listen, I thought we could-” Drake cut off when she raised the bottle she was holding back to her lips, draining it as she walked. It didn’t take her long, and she never said anything when she lowered the now empty bottle. Drake silently followed her back downstairs into the hull of the ship and to the entertainment area. They neatly avoided any sight of the crew as they moved about in the dark.

She was barefoot and only stumbled once, but he caught her arm to keep her from falling. When he grabbed her arm, the heat from his hand branded into her skin. Just the simple touch on her arm made her heart race. “I’m fine. Don’t touch me.” Cass said as she pulled away and headed towards the kitchen.

“Cass, stop.” Drake called out. “I wouldn’t go in there. I think Michelle and Chris were going to do the cleanup, and you might not want to see that.”

“Oh.” Cass stopped suddenly. “I didn’t think of that.” She turned back and finally seemed to look at Drake. He was still shirtless, but she focused on the bottle in his hand. “Give me that.”

“What, this?” Drake lifted the bottle and backed towards the leather sectional in the room. Cass followed like he thought she would.

“Yes. Give it to me and then you can go away.”

“Why don’t we sit down and drink it together?” Drake sank down onto the thick cushions and watched Cass carefully. “Can’t a couple of old friends just sit and drink some wine together?”

Cass stared at him wearily. How bad do I want that wine? She glanced towards the kitchen. Not bad enough to walk in there and see something I shouldn’t.
